Original painting artwork. Layne Thomas Staley was the original lead vocalist of grunge pioneers Alice in Chains who rose to international fame in the early 1990s. He was known for his distinctive vocal style as well as his harmonising with bandmate Jerry Cantrell. He was also a member of the Seattle supergroup Mad Season. Staley struggled with drug addiction for much of his adult life; he later died from an overdose at the age of 34.
